FutureMap Foundation Launch Fellowship to Train Africa’s Next Generation of Tech Leaders
FutureMap Foundation, through its training arm FutureMap Academy, has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Thermolinks Concepts Limited and Arewa data Science Academy to launch the Future Tech Fellowship (FTF) a bold initiative to equip Africa’s emerging tech talent with world-class skills, mentorship, and career-building opportunities. This high-impact program is designed to empower young professionals aged 18–30, especially women and individuals from underserved communities, by providing intensive hands-on training in Product Design, Front-End Development, Back-End Development, and Data Science, followed by internships and alumni support.
The MoU was formally signed by Dr. Shuaib Sani Shuaib, on behalf of FutureMap Foundation, and Mr. Usman Suleiman Usman, on behalf of Thermolinks Concepts Limited. “Through the Future Tech Fellowship, we’re investing in people, not just programs,” said Dr. Shuaib Sani Shuaib. He also mentioned that “This initiative will catalyse innovation and open doors for a generation of African tech leaders who will shape the future”. This fellowship aligns perfectly with our mission to foster innovation and bridge the digital divide,” added Mr. Usman Suleiman Usman. “Together, we are creating pathways to meaningful work and lifelong learning.”

The Future Tech Fellowship initiative is built on four core pillars:
• Delivering industry-relevant training in high-demand tech disciplines;
• Enhancing job readiness especially for women and underserved communities through experiential learning and expert mentorship;
• Promoting equity and inclusion in Africa’s digital transformation;
• Building a long-term talent pipeline through strategic partnerships.
Each track will admit approximately 20 participants, who will complete a three-month virtual training, save data science that will run for 6 months followed by three months of internship placements with industry partners. The program also includes final project presentations, Demo Day events, and continued support through a dedicated alumni network.
Training will be delivered virtually with access to recorded materials, live sessions, weekly projects, and mentorship. Participants will benefit from instruction by experienced faculty from our institutional partners.
